Re: A Story of two brothers and Custer

A slight revision in the story. Leumel Bobo was born in New Albany, Ohio in Franklin County. However Bobo's wife was born in North Carolina and as far as I know never lived in Franklin County, Ohio. Lemuel Bobo had fought with the 13th Ohio Cavalry during the war. Kanipe had married her out west in 1877.

Kanipe stated the soldiers with Custer had been stripped of clothing. George Custer was not over two soldiers as I had stated by rather by two other soldiers. Kanipe noted he had been shot in the heart and that only the small of his back was touching the ground. Speculation on my part suggest he may have died with his arms and feet slightly in the air and rigor mortis had set in or perhaps the Indian women stripped his clothing so quickly in such a way that rigor mortis set in that way. Kanipe further stated when they searched the Indian Village many parts of 7th Cavalry clothing were found as well as two severed white heads and stated the Indians had left so quickly that their dead who had been prepared for burial had left the job unfinished.

As we now know the third column of soldiers were making their way to the Little Bighorn and the Indians left, thus probably sparing Benteen and Reno and Kanipe from having the same fate as Custer.
