Austin Dix & Dick Slate Drummers 18th VA Infantry

Both these men were Black Confederates and on the muster roll. I have a file card for Dick Slate that has no mention of him being a Black Man. I believe he was a slave, hired from his master. The Virginia Regimental Series says Dix was "freeborn" and also a veteran of the War of 1812. At any rate, one of them is credited with capturing (or helping capture) this Union Colonel at 1st Manassas. I recall seeing several newspaper accounts about "Old Dick the Drummer." Dix has 18 file cards in his record at Fold 3. I always assumed it was he that captured the Yankee Colonel. Can someone with access to Fold 3 see if there's anything about that in Dix's record ? I'd like to know which man did the capturing ?
