Welcome to Mississippi speak. You are right of course, but you are also wrong. Here in Mississippi the people of Mississippi understand perfectly what is being said -- The unit was from Lee county as it exists today, but not the former county. I think this gad something to do with the changing county lines.

Another example is my grandparents lived in Walthall Co. they had previously lived in Pike Co. --- in the same location. They referred the area as old Pike Co.
