Catonment W. N. Edwards

Recently I was ask a question as to what the W. N. Edwards in Cantonment stood for? The records pertained to Larkin J. Moses, a North Carolina soldier who died there on February 5, 1862 due to typhoid fever. As best as I can understand it the initials of W. N. stood for Weldon Nathaniel Edwards who had been the President of the North Carolina Convention when North Carolina left the Union. Of course the short name for Cantonment was Camp.

Can anyone either confirm or deny that the Cantonment was named in honor of Weldon Nathaniel Edwards? The 1st North Carolina State Cavalry was there from November 1861 though February 1862 according to unit information at fold 3. It further appears the camp was near Manassas.
