Find Confederate Records in Spain

MADRID, March 26. —Valuable diplomatic records ot the Confederate States of America have just come to light here. In some unaccountable manner they were left by the Confederate representative in Madrid in 1861-1862, and have now been presented to the Spanish Academy of History by the well known Spanish author and book collector, Ignacio Bauer. There can be no doubt about the authenticity of the documents, as they bear the official seal of the "Confederate Republic.” and carry si-gnstlirpH of a number of jinportant officials of the Confederacy. in view of their importance as historical records It Is inexplicable why, when he left Madrid, Jefferson Davla’ representative should have (abandoned these documents)???? Not sure of the exact words transcription is bad , ink in image is smeared.
