Sorry for the lateness of my reply. Unfortunately, I don't have time for an extensive response at this point, but I don't think the quote even sounds like Lincoln - it smacks too much of late-19th/early 20th century class struggle rhetoric. Also, if you look at other instances of Lincoln using the term "capitalist" or "capitalists," he isn't using it as a pejorative. Even the quote at the end of the other link you posted wasn't referring negatively to capitalists in general, just to the specific capitalists in that one case that were asking the legislature to fund some thing they were disagreeing about. I have no idea how Lincoln would have reacted to the excesses and abuses of the Gilded Era monopolies and trusts, but this seems to be another example of a statement being ascribed to a famous person to give it credibility.
