His GG Grandfather was James W. McConaughey, Captian Ass. Adjut. Gen. C.S.A. Buried at Little Rock Arkansas.
Born Jan. 9, 1821, Virginia. Died May 13, 1872.

Records show he was in Gen. D. McRaes 3rd Brigade. Arkansas. He served for about 9 months until he resigned due to extreme ill health. Before that he was appointed by the State of Arkansas as the Chief Quarter Master of the State. General McRae gave him high marks in a review letter.

He is reported to be related to Brigadier General Dandridge McRae, but I don't know.
