Where is the anti-Black Confederate crowd coming from when they say this ? They start quoting Davis, Stephens, Cobb, and "official Confederate policy." Were there actual Confederate laws that made it illegal to enlist free blacks ? If so, how did the Army get around them ? It's downright comical, they'll seriously talk about every other race, creed, and color, that wore Confederate gray, but not the Black Man.
