Re: Bobby Horton Concert
In Response To: Bobby Horton Concert ()

The concert was a success and it was my pleasure to finally meet Joe and Johnny Cooper and others.

Bobby Horton as he often does tells the story of the song he plays and sings before hand. I had remembered doing some work on the 2nd Texas Infantry (Moore's) at the Battle of Shiloh about a year ago. The well known Sam Houston of Texas had a son. Lieutenant Samuel Houston Junior in Company C of the 2nd Texas Infantry (Moore') and was left for dead at the Battle of Shiloh only to be taken to Camp Douglass, Illinois before being paroled with the Dix-Hill Cartel later in 1862. It has been said that his mother did recognize him when he returned home and his father General and former Governor of Texas would die the following year.

Bobby Horton was telling about the Song "The Battle of Shiloh Hill" by M. B. Smith. And Mr. Horton said that M.B. Smith had been with Company C of the 2nd Texas at the Battle of Shiloh and had written the song.
