Re: A little help with a transcription please?

If you send me a photo copy the letter as an attachment to an email, My wife Betty and I will see what we can do with the transcription. If we have any luck with the transcription will return it back to you as an attachment to E-Mail.

You will have to be patient with the time it will take to transcribe the letter. I obtained a photo copy of five letters written by the Captain of the Company in which my Great Grandfather served in the Civil War (13th and 16th Battalion), Georgia Calvary. Originally the 13th Battalion later combined with other units and was known as 16th Battalion Georgia Calvary.

All of these letters were written to the Captain's wife and were found in the library at the University of Mississippi. Betty and I eventually transcribed all five letters but a few of the words were not legible, but we inserted what appeared to us the correct word based on the contents of the sentence and noted that in our transcript.

According to the writer, one of the letters was written using Polk Berry juice for ink, because he had no ink and none could be purchased. What amazed us was the fact that the Polk Berry Juice letter was the clearest of any of the letters.

My email address if eggs8228@att,net.
