Re: How Confederate Soldiers are forgotten veteran

Your correct David, as we speak she is the very last living person receiving a Civil War pension due to her father's service according to the United States government. The SUV members have given her a lot of fanfare. From people who I've talked to who have visited her say that she cannot hold a conversation for more than a few minutes. She also appears to have some mental issues. According to her she starting chewing tobacco when she was five years old and she has nothing good to say about her father or mother. People have tried to give her money but if her bank account goes higher than a certain amount and I think its $2,000.00 she will lose her pension. She does not want to move as she feels comfortable where she is at. It is my opinion that she will die at the nursing home and the employees there keep her notoriety a low profile from others wanting to meet or talk to her.
