Most likely by stage / wagon / horseback down the South Platte, then the Platte, and ultimately to Omaha or Nebraska City. From there, by steamboat, down the Missouri to St. Louis, then down the Mississippi. At some point below, might have been able to pick up the railroad, or perhaps used the road system travelling overland.
