At the turn of the 20th Century the UDC held fund raisers in San Francisco, California. It was a highly social event, usually with ball dances and high tea parties. My relative Frances Soule Campbell of Mobile, Alabama was a member of the General Albert Sidney Johnston chapter of California UDC. She is pictured here in the lower left corner of the group of the year 1905 maid of honors. At this event a very large white Confederate National Flag was displayed before being donated to the Museum at Richmond.
