You are correct, David. But, the is also an major issue with the historylessons of the War in US schools - especially to learn about the difference in union and confederation, and why some states did choose one for the other.

Secondly, extremly few have talked about the legality of the secession, and that the laws of the United States didn`t say squatt if this was legal or not before after the war in 1868... . Today, no state can leave the union.

Since the war end - northern states have worked hard to "wipe out" their part of the history of slaves in America: Does schools in New York learn the they had the largest slavemarked in the US for centuries ?

That the main reason for that many states in the North did abolish slavery was industrialization ? If not this had happend, they would gladly used slaves on the same terms they had for centuries before... .

Slavery in 1860 was on the decline because of industrialization - the day when cotton was picked and cleaned by a machine - that day slavery would be over.

The major problem of slavery wasn`t that white thought they were better than blacks - but, the economical value it represented. This was infact something Lincoln did understand, but he knew other states wouldn`t "buy out" the value of all the slaves in the South. If this would have been the case - the war would not have become one.

The another main factor/cause of the war was taxes - few does talk about that. Tax on goods from England, France - and even from my realm. This due to that the South got goods instead of money of sale of cotton. Tax on goods out and in... .

Another common "myth" is that "all Southerners had slaves".... .Hmm, education are surely needed, indeed. To have slaves one had be very rich, and few of the typical Southerner was that. Of my work on my coutrymen in the South - only 2 families had slaves. This represnt only 2 soldiers of about 100 (from Texas) aka ca 2%.

Honoring the CBF is to honor the Confederate Armies and their stamina and sacrefies during the war:
