I do not recollect all the details but I was browsing thru I believe a 1931 UCV magazine and came across an interesting article about money being raised for a memorial to a free black man murdered by John Brown at Harper's Ferry. In addition there was an article saying that the State of Tennessee had just allowed pensions for blacks who had either served their masters in the war or while in service of the Confederate States. Of course at this late date only about 80 applications had been received and many had been disabled thru loss of limbs etc. in combat.

In addition an interesting news item on TV today about some goofy actor Ben Afflect attempting to cover up his southern ancestor slave owner on a PBS ancestry program.
