Re: Abram Crabill, 33rd VA, Killed General Sedgwic

Hello John, There was an Abraham Crabill in Company B of the 33rd Regiment, Virginia Infantry. Like anyone else I was not there and can only try and go by what I see on his records and try and render an opinion. He was paroled in 1865 at age thirty-seven putting him around thirty-five or six at the time of Sedwick's death in May of 1864. I see him fairly consistently as a teamster in his unit. That was one great shot back in the day, at least General Sedwick bet his life it could not be done. Private Crabill was taken prisoner in September 1864.

Because of his age and duties within the 33rd Virginia I rather believe he did not make the shot.
