Looking just at #2, I doubt it would be worth much to know the Confederates could beat the US army in PA. They beat them often enough in VA. It would only have been worth something if they could have destroyed the Army of the Potomac and then menaced all the major eastern cities and isolate Washington DC. I think that's why Lee staked everything on the third day at Gettysburg, despite the odds - all or nothing.
