Re: Abraham Lincoln's Assination
In Response To: Abraham Lincoln's Assination ()

Hello Lee, "Has anyone found in their historical research references to this at the time? Is there any correlation between this Biblical event and Lincoln's death in the 'southern mind' then or now?"

From my experience Southern people were just that; people. In my opinion the majority of Southern people had general remorse over Lincoln's assassination. However, there was at least one man who erected a statue to Booth in Alabama. I believe the statue still stands to this day to honor Booth and I want to say it's located in Troy, Alabama.

There are many religious days throughout history not to mention religions. I don't believe it should have anymore general correlation than did the day that Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House on "Palm Sunday."
