Jim Hollandsworth did a study of black Confederate pensioners. In Mississippi he found 1,739 black applicants out of a total of 36,000.
That's 4.8%. The MS number is significant because that state allowed blacks to apply for pensions at the same time as whites,
which would give you a fairly accurate ratio. Other states allowed black pensions at a later date.
