--In the example cited, the percentage of servants ranges from 3.8 to 5.6 % of the total, the mean being 4.7 %.
--Contrast this with Col. Fremantle's observation of servants taken into the Gettysburg campaign, which works out to about 5.9 % (5000/80,000).
--In a requisition [CSR] from Company D, 47th Alabama dated November 1861, there are 56 officers and privates and 4 servants listed, making 6.7 %.
While these are only three examples, they are remarkably similar, on the order of 5-6 percent. Are they any more such examples?
