Re: Was a physical description really necessary?

Having been a Police Officer at one time, from my perspective, just how many women of the time would those description have fit? For example white male, 5' - 8", 190 lbs, Brown eyes, Black hair, blue jeans. Have you seen this man?

In reality even the descriptions of the male prisoners were useless for anything other than file information. How would you even access that information in 1863 in any other place than Camp Chase?
