Most of Norris' statement cannot be checked or verified.
But there's at least one inconsistency-

Norris:
"...in January, 1863, we were sent to Richmond, from which place I finally made my escape through the rebel lines to freedom..."

In this account he's given a pass to go through the lines-

"Wesley Norris, a free negro, came into our lines from Culpeper yesterday about sunset....He states that he left Richmond on Friday last, with a pass form General Custis Lee, to go through our lines via Culpeper."
