Thanks for your opinion. I find no reason to disagree with your opinions. I have spent lots of time over the past 20 years researching various Civil War battles.

It is hard to imagine the carnage left on the field after most battles. The stench from many thousand dead men and hundreds of dead animals unburied and lying in the July sun for several days.

Try to visual the severed limbs lying around the areas where surgeons attended the sounded. I understand that the skill of a surgeon was often measured by how fast he could remove a mangled arm or leg.

Leaving aside the differences for fighting the war, men on both sides were willing to face death without flinching. I am a veteran of both WW Ii (no action in boot camp & Naval School) and Korea and believe me I would never walk in lock step to face a line of solders, standing in formation three deep loading and firing their muskets about every 30 seconds.

I served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years, and after basic training, was stationed on a ship at sea,or at a Naval base in the Pacific for 4 years, 3 months, and only got home twice. Each time was for family emergencies.

Would 'not take a million for the experience. Would not pay five cents to repeat the event.
