Re: 'Masonic Incident' - 5th New Hampshire

Although almost incomprehensible to our modern way of thinking, I find the acrticle quite believable. There are many examples of men from the blue and gray talking very cordially before, during, and after a battle, and most of these demonstrate the affinity men from both sides had for each other.

When one considers the power and influence of 19th century Masonry in the United States, the scenario on the battlefield at Antietam seems quite plausible. There are also many examples of Masonic Brothers aiding each other on both sides during the war, although I will concede that this is an extreme example!
