I believe that soldiers who had so much psychological trauma that it made them unable to serve adequately, were taken out of combat....most of the time. Since the CSA had far fewer men, they surely had more experienced soldiers and that was one of their few advantages other than the "home court". In other words, the Confederacy's lack of man power was more of a disadvantage than Combat Stress. I am more concerned about how this battle fatigue affected families in the South after the War because a significant percentage of the soldiers from this decimated army who returned home had PTSD for a long time, perhaps the rest of their lives.
