Back about 30 years ago, the old story of the U-boat in Mobile Bay surfaced when its hulk was sighted for a short while after a storm. Before that, it was last seen back in the 1950s...I read the original newspaper article from the Mobile Press Register from the 1940s about that sub being attacked in the bay after it attacked several ships leaving port. Now I cannot find ANY reference about that sub today anywhere. I wonder what that hulk is that they kept finding? Many stories get lost to history...never to be found.
