Why would you stereotype someone like Beauregard who had just been appointed as Commandant of West Point? Wouldn't it be easier to run someone off, if you thought they would be a problem? Supposed Beauregard remained and would not go along with your plans? Did Beauregard know too much?
The removal of Beauregard from Command of West Point was NOT stereotyping because he was a southerner. It was because Beauregard would have been a danger to their plans as Commandant of West Point. A position where he could influence the minds of the young cadets. It was a "Beer Hall Putsch style" Purge. In my Opinion.
