Why didn't Lincoln simply order them to move back to Moultrie and again get food from Charleston? Why didn't Lincoln send a unarmed fleet with food and let South Carolina know of this mission? Why didn't Lincoln meet with the peace delegation and discuss actions to this effect and/or ask for their recommendations???

Plenty could have been done yet the United States chose war.
