I agree with you both. As I was typing this, I kept thinking the denial of those who refuse to believe that their side could have committed any "wanton outrages". The worse was about to come.

I like the story about future Union general Nathanial P. Banks quiting his term of governor of Massachussetts to work for...there it is again....the Illinois Central Railroad...why does that company keep coming up?

"The physical and mental characteristics of the American people, in fact,are owing, in a great degree to the winds which prevail in this country." If the Gulf Stream causes these reactions to Bostonians, People from Texas to Florida should have been ten times more "active in body and clear in intellect" than those New Englanders!
