I'm not sure if the person I'm thinking about is Willie Medlock but there was an amateur highwayman and a couple of train robbers who were not very good at a life of crime. They didn't know how to cover their tracks. I'm going to look into some material I have to see who Medlock was and if he was one of those dumb criminals. They were active around the time frame in that article.

The co-joined twins was really a fascinating story considering their longer than expected life span and what they were able to do in the time they had here on earth. I guess their wives adjusted pretty well to the situation and they had kids. Very unusual home life they led.
