I just finished reading 'To Try Men's Souls' by Newt Gingrich and William R. Forstchen. Very good reading. It was easy for me to stick my ancestor in the activity since he was with Washington at Valley Forge. I've found doing that makes some of the war stuff I don't understand very well easier to at least picture.
One thing that stuck out is the then called "Rebels" were just as low on supplies, ammo, people and funds as their decendants who fought in the Confederate Army. They had times when they darn near quit and went home. In both cases, Revolutionary and Civil, the leader of their forces commanded a presence that no other could. They stuck it out because they believed, due to that leadership, they were right in their actions because if it wasn't a real good cause, they didn't believe the leader they followed would be there.
