Lincoln seems to go along with Seward for at least a short period of time, both the US and CS playing a game of deception to gain the upper hand. I have to wonder just how much faith was put into this pledge by either side. The pledge was made, and for a while at least, seemed like it was going to be honored. That was the original post, doesn’t matter if Lincoln supported it or not he never rejected it. That is historically correct and true, at least until other facts prove it wrong.
