I feel sorry for the troops also, but not so much as the women, children and elderly non-combatants who were buthered by soldiers at Sand Creek and elsewhere. It was this yankee 'war against civilians' mentality that justified the burning of American towns, churches, homes and Indian villages ostensibly for the sake of United States citizens. There is nothing patriotic about murder. Okay, now you yankees procede with your bloviating about losing Little Big Horn and making George Custer a scapegoat.
