This subject is part of a book I posted on the TN Board. Much of the research is based on Union Provost Marshal reports. Naturally, there are no Bushwhacker Reports, but you can get an idea of how difficult it was for civilians, especially loyal Confederates.

"Horace Allred Harbors bushwhackers and bushwhacks himself occasonally....is a shoemaker and makes shoes for

all the bushwhackers in the neighborhood."
