"Company A of the 4th Mississippi State Troops also known as the minute men show Captain G. W. Humphreys." The source for this information came from Unit Information for the 4th Mississippi State Troops on page 2 at fold 3.

You may want to contact the Mississippi Department of Archives and History located in Jackson, Mississippi for possible verification of George Washington Humphreys being with the 4th Mississippi State Troops.

According to the 1860 United States census a G. W. (A male) Humphreys was living in Lafayette County, Mississippi and an ancestry transcriber noted his name was George Washington Humphreys. The census stated he was a farmer and the nearest Post Office was reported as Paris. It was also noted he was born about 1813 in Georgia which dove-tails with his Memorial at Find A Grave.
