Jeff Giambrone, in 1997, then working with Gordon Cotton at the Old Court House Museum, found another list of some 77 troops, mostly from East Tennessee, 40+ from the 43rd Tennessee. We obtained stones for these troops and set them July 11/12, 1998.

The local SCV Camp provided the working party utilizing a Bob-Cat fitted with an 8-inch auger to dig the two holes for each stone. Once the holes were prepared, the auger was replaced by a large manila line and hogged tied each stone, dropping them into place.

The lengthly dissertation found on Dr. Johnston’s memorial was lifted from my unpublished history of the 43rd Tennessee.
