Interesting Information

Friends - attached please find the final rule of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) determining "Applicants for VA Memorialization Benefits" dated April 1, 2016. They revised the rule at paragraph "38.600(a)(1)(v), now re-designated as paragraph 38.600(a)(1)(vi), which allows for "any individual" to apply for a headstone or maker for veterans whose service ended prior to April 6, 1917, . . . "

See 2nd page (p.10766) center column, lower portion.

My camp has been receiving headstones, without question(s), for a couple of months now. We have even dusted off some old applications which were previously rejected and upon resubmission, we have received headstones for those applications they were rejected in the past. One example are four stones for men of the 11th Arkansas Infantry (Benton/Saline County) who were rejected in 2012. We reordered and received the stones; and on June 1, 2016 we carried them to Clinton, LA and placed them in the Clinton Confederate Cemetery. Thanks to all who responded to the survey and a special thank you to Kelly Crocker of the Florida Division who found the ruling and shared it with me, so I could share it with you. Now "Get to work".
