Re: William M. Rockwood - CSA??

Anna

I checked my other source for the 1860 Mississippi census today, as promised, and found nothing on your Rockwood. I only found only the one Rockwood in Panola County.

There is no one listed in Warren County with a surname beginning with Roc…..

However I did find Daniel Swett, 56 years old, born in Massachusetts, occupation ‘Hardware”, his 54 year old wife Sarah and their 2 daughters and 2 sons, all born in Massachusetts, listed in Household #311 on page 40 of the 1860 Warren County, Miss census. City of Vicksburg. Daniel’s wealth is listed as $20,000 real estate and $49,000 personal estate.

Living in the same dwelling were 5 adult male “clerks”, one with a wife and 3 young children, and Thomas Havern, a “Merchant”, his wife and 2 small children.

No one living in the household has a surname anything remotely resembling Rockwood.

Page 40 is dated June 29, 1860
