I have been unable to locate a record for an H. G./Hiram Reynolds, etc. affiliated with the 44th Mississippi Infantry
H. G. Reynolds, Private, Camp Guard, Camp of Instruction for Conscripts, enlisted January 31, 1863 at Brookhaven, Miss. by Maj. M. R. Clark for the war, present at the Jan/Feb, 1863 muster, no further records
I suspect he may have been dropped from the rolls on a missing March 31 +/-, 1863 muster roll.

Jany & Feb, 1863 dated March 1, 1863 at Brookhaven Miss., and
Apr. 30 to Oct. 31, 1863, dated Dec. 11, 1863 at Enterprise, Miss.

December 18, 1864, received U. S. General Hospital, Nashville, Tenn. December 25, died March 11, 1865 of exhaustion, amputation of left leg, buried City Cemetery grave #12,480, residence before enlistment - Amit [sic] Co. It appears he did not subsequently enlist and follow the company when transferred to Confederate service
