The Obituary of John Francis Lauderdale
The Warren County - Vicksburg Public Library, Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi
John F Lauderdale, 82, to be Buried Today; John Fancies Lauderdale, one of Vicksburg’s oldest and best known citizens of former years, passed away at his home on Lane’s Hill yesterday afternoon, following a long illness, aged 82 years. For the past year or more deceased has been incapable of engaging in active pursuits, but was previously connected with the City Administration in Official Capacities of Varying Sorts. The Funeral Services will be held this afternoon, Reverend A M Ayers, officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pall bears, T H Allein, Abe Kiersky, W A Kelley, Louis xxx, Jesse Smith and A A Treanor. The deceased, who was a Gallant Veteran of the Confederacy, is survived by Two Daughters; Mrs. B F Page and Mrs. Valley Tanner; also Three Sons; Captain J C Lauderdale of the City of Vicksburg Police Department; Hicks Lauderdale, and W P (“Rush”) Lauderdale, also a sister, Mrs. M J Turner, now aged 83 years, all residents of this City and all of whom have the sympathy of numerous friends.
