The Volunteer Southrons.
We had the pleasure of an interview yesterday with Col. Isaac M. Partridge, the gallant and accomplished editor of the Vicksburg (Miss.) Whig, who is flag bearer of that splendid company, the ‘ "Volunteer Southrons,"’ of Vicksburg, which lately arrived in our city. This company numbers 110, rank and file, and is composed of as choice spirits as can be found in the land. Its commander, Capt. Moody, is a gentleman of great skill and gallantry. One of its members is a son of Capt. Adams, who commands the Federal squadron off Pensacola. Another is Col. John H. Hobart.--nephew of the late Bishop Hobart, of New York — who was Division Inspector of the Mississippi Militia. Col. Partridge was a Major General of the same militia, and several of his staff are in the company. Major Wm. H. Cowan, who is the District Attorney of Vicksburg, is also a member, having obtained leave of the Court to join his gallant brethren in arms. With such a spirit, and such materials, surely the South is invincible.
