CSA ancestor killed at Iuka MS

Searching for descendants of any Confederate soldier killed in the Battle of Iuka, fought on Sept. 19. 1862. We are needing descendants to apply for Veterans Affairs headstones. If you wish your ancestors monument to be placed in a cemetery on the battlefield, we will help you fill out necessary forms and see that the marker is placed. Veterans Affairs require "In Memory" headstones to be applied for by descendants. We know that over a hundred CSA soldiers were buried on the battlefield and we have names for some of them. Some of them were carried from the field by their comrades and were buried by Union soldiers in a cemetery near the hospital the next day. Some of them died at a later date from their injuries from the Battle of Iuka. These CSA soldiers deserve a monument and Historians of Tishomingo County MS, along with The Iuka Battlefield Commission are working to procure these monuments.
