This unit was at First Manassas and then returned to Tennessee. He was wounded on Aug. 6, 1862. That is the date of the Battle of Tazewell, Tennessee, in which this unit participated. He is first shown as absent, wounded, then absent with leave, and then, as George points out, absent without leave. Without further records we cannot tell if he did return to this unit. It is always possible that he did join another unit.
