Re: Luther R. Reid, Miss. Lt. Art. and/or 21st Mis

I find a man by that name in both units - dates allow for this to be the same man. 1st Sgt. Luther R. Reid, Co. H (Warren Volunteers), 21st Mississippi Regiment, enlisted 2 July 1861, at Bovina, MS, for the war. He was shown as a tutor by trade, 26 years old, married, born in Virginia. He was discharged at Manassas, VA, 1 October 1861. Pvt. Luther R. Reid (Reed, Read), Co. G. Mississippi Light Artillery, enlisted 26 April 1862, at Vicksburg, for 3 years. Most records show him as a private, but a couple of muster rolls in 1863 show him as commissary. He was captured at Vicksburg and exchanged in Dec. 1863. He was again captured at Blakely 9 April 1865, and is last shown as a POW transferred from Ship Island to Vicksburg, 1 May 1865.
