Vicksburesque; by V Blaine Russell; It had been some years since I was at Milldale is the approximate Site about the Redwood Swimming Pool, Probably few of our Swimmers who go there ever explored the ridge - top high above and on the South, there is an aged Grave Yard there, almost overgrown and partly obliterated by time, Yet, the last time I was there a few old tombs either stood or had fallen, They marked One or Two Redwood Pioneers. - One of whom was a Captain Gayle, if my memory serves me right, In several places in the rattlesnakey place old cypress stops stuck up, and our guide told us these were markers put at the head and feet of Confederate Soldiers who died of disease or wounds in the Great Camp which stretched on the Milldale Site the before the Siege.

Discoverd the above in the old newspaper files.
The only mention i have found concerning the Confederate Cemetery at this place.
I would suspect that Captain Gayle is not Confederate, probably much before,
we have veterans ofthe Revolution buried in this area.
