Official Records Supplement/7th Battalion *PIC*

Thanks to a lot of digging and some helpful pointers from folks on here, I'm hot on the trail of a good CW history of my Great Grandfather, the Rev. John Wood Ellis, who I'm now 99.99% sure served with the 7th BATTALION Miss. Infantry. More than likely from it's formation at Quitman, Miss. to the unit's final capture near Mobile. There are gaps in his CSR cards, but he's in there at the unit's formation, signed a parole at the fall of Vicksburg and is on a list of prisoners sent to Ship Island in '65.

In the book, Free State of Jones: Mississippi's Longest Civil War (which a big chunk of is available on Google), there are many mentions of the 7th B'tn and in the references it says, "The movements of the 7th Battalion, Mississippi Infantry, may; be traced in U.S. War Department, Supplement to the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, ed. Janet B. Hewett, pt. 2 Record of Events, vol 33, ser. 45, 101-13. "

Anyone know if there is an online version of this? I've used a couple online versions of the Original Records, which are very cumbersome and complicated (for me), and it's not clear if this supplement is part of those. There appears to be copies of the Supplement at the Miss. Dept. of Libraries, which is fairly convenient to me. Just wondering if the information contained therein would add anything beyond what all the other 7th b'tn synopses provide - like the SCV site.

Just looking for anything that would give more details to flesh out the unit's history. I also have a particular interest in the unit's action with Forrest around Murfreesboro just before the Battle of Nashville. If anyone has info or can direct me somewhere for info on what I understand are the Battle of Overalls Creek and Battle of Wilkinson Pike/The Cedars/3rd Battle of Murfreesboro would be helpful.

Any information or pointers is greatly appreciated.

Also, if it works, I'm posting a picture of a "ladder badge" that was found at his old home place. Says Co B, but for some reason I think that was some kind of mistake as I THINK he was in Co. E, which all the CSR cards say as well as the parole form from Vicksburg.
