On June 17, 1863, the IX Corps debarked, and in accordance with instructions received from Grant, Parke marched his people to their assigned positions in the valley of Skillikalia Bayou. The corps left flank units camped near Snyder’s Bluff, the right at Jones Templeton’s plantation. General Parke established his headquarters at Milldale, near the center of his line.

….

Plate 36-1 of the OR Atlas shows Templeton’s approximately 4 miles south from Snyder’s Bluff on Milldale Road. Milldale is not shown.

Plate 51-1 shows Milldale approximately 2-1/4 miles north of Templeton’s

The 27th Michigan was in Parke’s 1st Division

There is no indication of any action at Milldale’s here.
