His records indicate that he survived the Vicksburg campaign.

Daniel P. Phillips, age 22, Private, Capt. E. J Runnels’s Company (Rankin Rough and Readys), 6th Regiment Mississippi Volunteers,* enlisted August 24, 1861 at Grenada for one year, declared missing following the action at Baker’s Creek May 16, 1863, subsequently, on the June 30, 1863 muster roll, he was recorded as absent, absent sick, on the subsequent bi-monthly muster roll he was recorded as present, last paid June 30, 1863, he was last recorded present at the July & August, 1864 muster which was held near Atlanta, Ga., no further information

* This company subsequently became Company A, 6th Regiment Mississippi Infantry
