I'm sorry I did not intent to come across as rude. He appears in the 1860 census as John A. in Tippah county. There are three nephews and great nephews named John Alvin. I Nash county NC he has a cousin named John Alvin. There is also a hand written family tree that is probably 50-60 yrs old that names him as John Alvin. You could be right but I think its John Alvin.
