James D and John N Williamson

The above two men left their home in Union county, NC and took a train to MS to join the Confederate Army. They were the sons of John Milton Williamson who had moved his family to Catawba Springs, Lincoln county, NC before he left with the 59th NC Cavalry at age 45...His oldest son Robert M Williamson died at Richmond VA from war wounds in 1862. His mother did not want James Dorsey [called "Doss"] or his younger brother John Newton Williamson to go to war. So they left home anyway. I seek to find just what unit of the Army these two joined in Mississippi.
. John Newton Williamson was a drummer boy as he was not old enough to fight. He received a minie ball in his ankle that was still there when he died. The family still has this artifact. John is buried at Yockanookanny Baptist cemetery in McVille,Madison county, MS. He married twice, lst Sallie Elizabeth Hall and 2nd Mary Elizabeth Harrington. He has many descendants in MS and TX. James Dorsey Williamson married Patience L Stokes and had three children, he is buried in Leake county MS at Forest Grove Presbyterian cemetery.

Neither of these men has been recognized for their CSA service. I've searched MS rosters and find several J D Williamsons...could not tell which of them was born NC and died MS....John N Williamson I didn't find at all. He may have been young, but he carried the minie ball to his death that he received while serving. Any assistance appreciated. Thank you for your kindness.
